With 2010 coming to an end, and 2011 rapidly approaching, many people are considering their New Year's Resolution. Mine is always the same, to lose weight. This year, it is going to be different. I, of course, still want to lose weight, but I want my focus to be on the family's needs, not just my own.
So, for 2011, I will have many resolutions, not just one!
I want to cook more, in my kitchen and make good food, that is good for us.
I want to spend quality time with my family, not just camped out in front of the television.
I want to rekindle my relationship with my husband, we are more than just partners, we really love each other and need to show it better.
I want to finish my degree, and start teaching!
I want to get started on my master's degree!
I want to have some me time!
And of course, old faithful, I want to lose weight.
The countdown to the end of the year has begun, get your goals written out, and plan on those resolutions. Lets see which ones I make come true. Be blessed, Chrissy :)

Finishing up another semester...
School has ended for me, with some of the best grades I have gotten since I have been back in school. Two A's, one B and a darn C! I am having such a great time, enjoying my vacation and cleaning up after this long semester. The holidays are right around the corner and I am anxious to see the kids and spend time with my family. I will be missing my bro and sis, but we will see each other in a couple of months for our Christmas celebration.

Work and school, work and school work and,,,
I am working and going to school now, with some extra money for Christmas badly needed. I am working evenings at a department store, and school in the mornings. It has been a strain, knowing I am so close to graduation, and still feeling so far away. I am just getting my Baccalaureate degree in Biology, but also need some additional training to become a teacher. I have been looking into post bac programs here, in Nacogdoches, and at Sul Ross. Well, today I got an email from the post bac program director stating that I would get my could get my probationary teaching certificate in one summer, with full certification after a year. Then after two years, get my masters! All with no GRE, so guess what Chrissy is getting her masters!

Christmas time is here
As that magical season rapidly approaches, many of us (myself included) flock to the seasonal retail market for some income. I have started and worked three days and have three days worth of blisters on my feet! Oh man, I need to find some comfortable and inexpensive shoes I can wear every day.
I am enjoying learning a new store, and meeting new people. It will be nice to use my discount to shop for my friends and family. It will also be nice to be able to pay my car payment on time ;)
I am mostly thankful that it seems to be a good place to work, with nice people and flexibility to see my kids and get my homework done too.
Happy holidays everyone, stay blessed.

How I spend my time
As another week starts, I enter into my weekly routine, which honestly is no routine at all. My kids are washed up, dressed and out the door, thank God for breakfast express at their schools. I head off to take an A and P exam that I didn't study for, I played in San Antonio with my sis and my friend. I usually have a one hour break between that class and my next, that I fill with studying, paying bills, or finishing out phone calls. But today, I had a two hour break that I filled with Walmart, feeding, walking and cleaning up after the dogs, checking on 2 of my four other classes and of course eating. I also printed out some assignments for tonight, and a poem I really want to work on before Thursday.
Someday, my day will not be so scheduled down to the minute, and I can just pick up a good book and enjoy. But for the next, oh 40 years, I will be punching someone's clock. Keep on keeping on, and I will too. Chrissy

Really really long week
I just looked back and saw I haven't posted since Sunday, and realized it felt like a month ago! School is taking all my free time, as is parenting, and wifely duties, and looking for a job. I have applied at 7 different places, with only 2 call backs, and 1 interview. I thought people were desperate to find employees, but not me? IDK, I just know that I will keep praying until something comes. And if it doesn't come, maybe I could sell a kidney or something, :)
I am blessed with my family, whom I love, and cherish. I have a roof over my head, and food in my belly. I cannot complain for wanting anything,(except maybe more time.) I have great friends, and am almost finished with a high dollar education, God has provided for me in all these times, why would he not provide now? I have faith, but am little lacking in the patience.
Be Blessed, Chrissy

Happy Halloween!
Kids are ready and we had a good time at a pre-Halloween party last night. I have finished 5 out of 7 questions from my plant midterm, still have a paper to write and an A and P worksheet to get to before manana! But for today, I will play with my kids, help them get dressed up, take them trick or treating and just have a good time! (Above: Claudia is my olympic softball player and Michael is a vampire!)

Oh Thursdays, how I loath thee....
Here we are again, to Thursday, where most of the world is cheering for it to be one day closer to Friday. But not me, Thursdays are my arch enemy.
For one thing, they drag on and on, the day must have like 79 hours in it.
Another thing, they have my classes all messed up, so I have these huge breaks between classes, not long enough to do anything, just long enough to make me have to wait around.
Then there are the classes, they are ok, but for some reason, we always get crap work on Thursdays.
And then, there is this, I have so much homework, I am not going to be enjoying this weekend anyways, so why do I have to rejoice in the fact that it is soo much closer to everyone else getting a day off?
So, happy Thursday yall.

Graduation bells are ringing...
Met with my adviser on Friday for a final check on my degree plan. Pending this semester, a winter interim course, 14 hours in the spring and a spring interim course. I can graduate in May of 2011. What has been so long in the making will so soon be over!
All of this has me thinking of the future and plans for a career, so I filled out my application for my teacher certification course. Just one more thing for me to do in the Spring semester!
I hope I can finish on time and on budget, and get a good job soon after, and I really hope I can start contributing to my families monies, not just being the determent to.
Keep the faith,
Chrissy

Another supermom to the rescue
One of my fave things about my kids school is the level of parent involvement. It is also one of the things I hate. At our school, there is a super mom who is currently our PTA pres. She is actively involved in every aspect of her child's life. And I really mean every! I don't think they spend any less time together now than before he was enrolled in elementary school.
She has always been the room mother. I am appreciative, because this is a job I certainly do not want! However, she managed to make a lot of us other parents feel like crap because we didn't do it.
She dressed up for the Christmas party, as a damn elf! The kids loved it, but I was super annoyed with her fake elf ears and her jingle bell shoes. She then proceeded to ask for donations for the teachers gift at the party! If I had been asked ahead of time, I would have pitched in, but asking for money at the party for a hundred dollar gift, seemed a little obscene.
All of these things aside, she is doing all this for the good of the children.
She is an older mom, and sometimes those older moms really try too hard. As a twenties mom, I am content with the status quo. My kids are fed, clothed and well rested. Cleanliness, and smartness require a little more work, and I am still working on those!

Each Day is full of surprises
Most of the moms out there in the super highway know how no two days are exactly the same. And my life is no exception. Yesterday, my baby moved into his big boy bed. I found out my checking account is overdrawn and may never come back to life, got several calls for several things to be repo'd and found some long lost data on the cycadeiodophyta. So that was my day, and this is my first blog. See ya'll around.
